About Physics & Astronomy

Physics is the most basic science that underpins the foundations of all sciences and engineering and seeks to uncover, formulate, and apply the laws of nature to solve practical and societal problems. Indeed, some of the biggest inventions of all time are directly attributed to innovations from physicists, examples being the invention of electricity, the World Wide Web, Wi-Fi, and digital cameras.  Our Department strives to use physics as a driver to transform the local and regional socio-economic landscape through scientific and technological innovation.

Our current undergraduate BSc Physics qualification aims to empower students with unique transferable skills for diversifying the economy. Locally, our graduates are readily employed by companies who seek people with excellent coding skills and an aptitude to solve highly complex problems.
