About CSIS
The Department of Computer Science started its existence in 2013 as the College of Information Communications & Telecommunications (ICT). In 2016, the College of ICT was dissolved and transformed into the department of Computer Science and Information Systems incorporated into the Faculty of Science.
Currently, the department is composed of 14 members of academic staff, one technician and one member of support staff. Members in the department come from different countries, such as India, Canada/Bulgaria, and Russia, but mostly from Botswana. They have got their degrees from reputable universities in the UK, Canada, Australia, Russia and China.

The department’s vision is in line with the BIUST vision, It aims to become a premier research-based department of computing and informatics internationally recognized for the quality and excellence of its teaching and learning by 2023.

To produce world-class research and innovation in various areas of computing and informatics contributing to industry growth and development and advancement of a diversified knowledge-based economy.
