The Department of Chemical and Forensic Sciences is one of the departments within the Faculty of Science (FOS) in BIUST. In 2012, when the BIUST admitted its first cohort of undergraduate students, the Chemistry section was part of the Department of Applied Sciences. The birth of the Department of Chemical and Forensic Sciences came about in the 2014/15 academic year and It has diversified academics, coming from different countries: Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Ethiopia, Malawi and Sweden. It regularly invites outstanding scholars around the world to deliver some selected modules to undergraduate students. The academics are supported by competent technical staff. The department proudly produced its first batch of undergraduates in 2019 and its first ever PhD student completed in 2018..
