The RID is a collaborative project between the Department of Business Management and Entrepreneurship and The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology commonly known as ETH-Zurich. The RID is an online policy tool that is designed to measure local impacts of natural resource extraction. It does this by allowing for the collection of data of key variables that can be used at the local level to systematically monitor key indicators on economic, environmental and social impacts of large-scale mining or other industrial extractive projects. The data is collected from three key stakeholders: communities, extractive companies and public authorities. By triangulating the perspectives of three stakeholders, the RID generates relevant, credible and trustworthy information on the local impacts of resource extraction projects. The information is displayed on an openly accessible online dashboard.
